
Director of Music and Arts - Adam Flores
Adam Flores was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At age 8, he began formal piano lessons with Mrs. Carol Kimpel (former student of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music) and by the 6th grade, was accompanist for the elementary school choir. By age 16, he got his start in liturgical music accompanying the adult choir on piano and organ at St. Matthias Catholic Church under the direction of Mr. Bernard Sans.
At age 19, Adam entered military service into the U.S. Army as a piano player in the Army Bands program. His assignments include: Ft. Huachuca, Az - 2nd ID, Korea - Ft. Belvoir, VA - Ft. Wainwright, AK - Ft. Monroe, VA - Ft. Campbell, KY - Mosul, Iraq - Ft. Sill, OK. During his almost 22 year active duty military career, he has been in positions to include: piano soloist; keyboardist in rock, country and jazz bands; Rhythm Section Leader; Rhythm Group Leader; Music Arranger; Concert Band, Stage Band, Ceremonial, Marching and Choral Conductor and Director duties. Military positions of responsibility include Squad and Platoon Leader; Acting First Sergeant and Acting Commander; Information Security Systems Officer; Unit Supply/Budget and Administration Supervisor.
During these various assignments during his military career, Adam always found time to be active in church music ministry for the community Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian and United Methodist Churches. He has tried to keep a balance of maintaining and keeping up with traditional church music and contemporary christian music in worship. His focus is 'touching peoples' hearts by bringing them closer to our Lord through music in worship'. Most recent church duties include: Organist, Piano Accompanist for Hilton Presbyterian Church, Newport News, VA; Faculty Piano Instructor for First Baptist Church Music Conservatory, Clarksville, TN; Piano and Organ Accompanist, Assistant Choral Director and Praise & Worship Leader for St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Clarksville, TN.
Adam has retired from military service in January, 2006 and currently resides in Hampton, VA with his wife, Laura and their three children: Maria, Megan and Matthew.
